Southeast of the city of Thessaloniki is found Chalkidiki, a peninsula. It is constituted by three smaller peninsulas, Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos, it resembles a trident piercing the Aegean.

Poligiros is the capital of Chalkidiki, located in its center, just 69km from Thessaloniki.

The diversity of region, and the combination of golden coasts, crystal waters and green of forest render the region ideal tourist destination. Chalkidiki they are tourist developed due to its natural wealth. Hotels and lodgings can satisfy all visitors.

Chalkidiki has rich historical past. In the cavern of Petralona were found discoveries that are dated by 700.000 years. In Stagira was born philosopher Aristotelis, teacher of Great Alexander.

Kassandra took its name from the king of Macedonia Kassandros, Sithonia from the Sithon (son of god Neptune) and Athos from mythical giant Athos.

The 9th century was founded the first monastic community in Athos and today constitutes the monastic state Agios Oros.
